A note on method:  there are many who would not approve of either using Wikipedia or the dictionary in a philosophy class.  I will not argue the point here.  I only want to point out that things like Wikipedia and the dictionary are very Humean projects.  That is, I believe there is an argument for utilizing them and this argument can be found in the writings of Hume.

It should also be noted that these are not the only sources we use in this course.  In general the progression of each section will begin with a source of common understanding, followed by the primary source, finishing with a scholarly commentary.  This will give us a chance to analyze each level individually, and dynamically, in regards to the argument(s) being covered.
